If degaussing is the most effective way to destroy data, why would I also shred my hard drives?

Summary:
Shredding drives is an extra step to make sure data is completely destroyed. Since a degaussed drive and a non-degaussed drive look the same, it’s best practice to shred drives after they’re degaussed
